This is one of my all time favorite Stories of Budha. Have a laugh!
Gauthama Budha was once sitting under a tree, preaching the gathering in a small town. Suddenly a villager rushed into the scene and began speaking very rudely to Budha.
Hey beggar, my nephew is a great fan of yours. He left home without our permission and has come to join you. Why do you brain wash young people and mislead them? If you are lazy to work and earn like us then you do the begging alone. Do not make others follow you. You are ruining the culture you cheap beggar
The crowd was astonished and angry. But when they turned to Budha to see his reaction what do they see? The same serene look. Gentle and calm. The man had not stopped yet. He went on and on and foul-mouthed Budha as badly as he could until he was tired and took a minute to catch his breath. And then this conversation took place.
Budha: “O dear one, do any guests visit your home?”
Villager: “What? Are you crazy? You talk nonsense! I am saying something about my nephew and you talk totally irrelevant. To answer your stupid question - Yes I do have guests. Plenty of idiots visit me”
Budha: “Do you offer them drinks and eatables when they visit you?”
Villager: “Of course I offer. I am not broken like you. And they eat like pigs and leave”
Budha: “But if they do not accept what you offer them what do you do? Do you keep it for yourself?”
Villager: “Who cares if they don’t accept. All the things are saved for me. I will eat it myself”
Budha: “Similarly O dear one, I do not accept the swearing that you presented to me so far. Please have it for yourself”
You can imagine how wild the crowd would have gone with laughter after this, right?
