Another classic story to exhibit that Spirituality can get real simple.
Gauthama Budha had halted for a few days in a village. Villagers brought a blind person of that town to budha one day. He was born blind and had never seen light. This was his plain argument -
There is no such thing as light. You people have only built stupid stories. If there is light as you say then why can’t I smell it as I smell a flower? Why can’t I feel it like air? Why can’t I hear it making any noise? And then you say I can’t see. What is seeing? If I can’t see how can you see? Why can’t seeing be an illusion? There is only one conclusion possible. If I can’t see then even you cannot. You are only lying. There is no seeing and there is light
Budha listened to his argument quietly and said “You cannot explain about light to a person who cannot see. It is waste of time and never possible. What he needs is a surgeon, not a debate”
One day the man was blessed with eye sight. He could now see the world, and light. He finally met Budha too. Budha asked him “Tell me now, can you smell, touch or hear light?”. Man replied “I now understand the existence of the thing that could not have been touched, smelt or heard. This clearly cannot be explained in words”
After you see for yourself, there is no more debate with anyone or yourself. People have claimed to have perceived something above Seeing, hearing or touching. And they claim it to be the goal of life. You either choose to be the blind man and argue. Or trust them and try to perceive it yourself. As you can see, the problem is Choice
